Comparative Genomics of Non-Model Invertebrates

IGNITE's 2nd Network Wide Training Event (Banyuls, France)

Our IGNITE group will be participating soon from the IGNITE Spring School to be held at the Observatoire Océanologique de Banyuls-sur-mer in France. The school will run from March 31, 2019 to April 8, 2019. Our lecturers and instructors for this event will come from over 6 different countries.

These are some among the topics to be covered:

- Genome assembly: from graph theory to high-performance computing
- Deep Learning for Genomics Using DragoNN with Keras and Theano
- Automatic and manual annotation of genomes
- Omics data integration
- Gender dimension in research
- Research integrity
- Data ownership
- Open Science

Some of our confirmed lecturers and instructors:

- Michael Eitel (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany)
- Denis Tagu (Inra, Rennes, France)
- Jean-François Flot (Univ Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium)
- Pierre Peterlongo (Inria, Rennes, France)

Apart from all the training for our ESRs, the event will also have a poster presentation. This will be a wonderful time for them to show their progress, do some networking and practice presentations skills. Professors, researchers, and visitors will have the opportunity to interact with our ESRs, provide useful comments and develop collaborations among them.

At the end of the school, a team building event will also take place. This will provide the ESRs the opportunity to interact with each other in a fun and different way. The team building event will provide the group with opportunities to improve their organizational skills and productivity,  identify strengths and weaknesses, and define shared goals. All these together will make the ESRs perform at their best individually, but also as team players from IGNITE.

Stay tuned on our website and twitter (@itn_ignite) for upcoming photos from the event!
