Yihe Zhao is working on ESR Project 3: Genome-wide assessment of the genetic basis of invertebrate adaptation under the supervision of Prof Agostinho Antunes at CIIMAR - Centro Interdisciplinar de Investigação Terminal de Cruzeiros do Porto de Leixões.
Before joining IGNITE, Yihe obtained a Bachelor degree in Pharmaceutical Engineering from the Tianjin University of Technology, China. During his studies there, he worked on emulsifier produced by bacteria for crude oil degradation. Drug discovery and molecular interactions was his main interests, so Yihe continued his academic history with Masters degree in Molecular Biology and Evolution at Kiel University, Germany, where he learnt more about Host-Microbiota interactions in the evolutionary context.
Yihe's scientific interests mainly involve Host-Microbiota interaction, Genomics and Proteomics of non-model marine invertebrates. In his free time he enjoys diving, climbing and traveling.
